Community Involvement

2009 Corporate Charity

Employees of DCCU have chosen to support The Blue Ridge Area Food Bank for 2009. The Blue Ridge Area Food Bank is one of more than 210 regional member food banks and food rescue programs of the nation's largest charitable hunger-relief organization, Feeding America. Volunteers help gather food through food drives or by working at the food bank to distribute food.

DCCU's goal in supporting a Corporate Charity is to make a real difference for the charitable organization that directly impacts the communities in our Field of Membership. In addition to providing financial support, we will also support the organization with employee volunteers.

Vial of Life

The Credit Union has partnered with the Waynesboro Woman's Club and Reo Distribution to provide a life-saving FREE service to our community - Vial of Life.

This program focuses on home medical safety through providing crucial information to emergency responders in emergency situations. Previously the program was available to those 60 years of age or older by the Valley Program for Aging Services, but now is also available to people from birth to 59 years of age through the assistance of your Credit Union.

The Vial of Life kit consists of a medical history form and a red Vial of Life magnet. The medical history form is completed by recording medical conditions, prescriptions taken, date of birth, etc., and then is placed in the pocket of the red Vial of Life magnet to display on your refrigerator door. The red Vial of Life magnet on the door of the refrigerator alerts emergency responders so they can locate important medical information in an emergency. The Waynesboro Woman's Club assembles the kits and informs area emergency responders of the incredible program. With the information the Vial of Life kits contain and the awareness of emergency personnel, lives can be saved.

The Credit Union branches serve as easy access distribution points for the community. The Vial of Life program serves the Waynesboro, Staunton, and Augusta County area. It is important to understand that the Vial of Life is only effective in this area because these are the emergency responders that have been educated with the details.

The Credit Union is proud to participate in a service that can help save lives and benefit everyone in our community.

To pick up your Vial of Life stop by any of our offices located in Augusta County.

If you have any questions about the Vial of Life program or would like more information on requesting a guest speaker, please contact: Marketing@mydccu.com

Note: Please remember to update your medical form anytime your medications or conditions change so that your information will be current in case of an emergency.
