Spring 2014
Engaging Our Members and Helping Our Community
A message from DCCU’s President/CEO Gerald B. Hershey

We are always looking for new ways to engage with our valued members, and in recent months, DCCU has initiated two great new ways to do so. First of all, I am pleased to present the inaugural issue of our redesigned newsletter — Member Matters. In addition to its new name and look, Member Matters puts the focus where it belongs…on our members. We wanted to create a publication that serves as a valuable resource – rich with member stories, timely tips, and important information about DCCU.

Second, DCCU recently made the leap into social media! The launch of our Facebook page (facebook.com/mydccu) has given us another exciting way to engage with our members and with the community. Our page offers casual, friendly insight into DCCU while also sharing important information. I hope you will take the opportunity to visit our Facebook page and join the conversation.

While DCCU continues to improve our engagement opportunities, we never want to lose sight of our purpose. As a credit union, we have the responsibility of caring for the well-being of our members and the opportunity to better serve the community. Our continued support of local charities is important to us and each year, DCCU employees select a corporate charity to sponsor. In 2013, our corporate charity was the American Cancer Society and in 2014 we are pleased to support area homeless shelters. Our donation will be divided equally between Valley Mission, Mercy House, and Shenandoah Alliance for Shelter. We hope that our donation will help each shelter in their efforts to affect positive change in this community that we care so much about.

As we continue to make strides to improve communication and engagement, we encourage you to frequently visit our Facebook page and share the benefits of being a member with others. Your involvement helps make us a better credit union. Thank you for your continued support of our financial cooperative.
