DCCU's Minor Lending Program
Ages 16 and 17
Are you ready for your first car but not quite sure where to start? DCCU wants to help you navigate through the process. After completing two online courses that teach you about the car buying process and how to apply for a loan, you will be ready to apply for your first auto loan with DCCU. During the courses, you will learn the following:
How to shop for a car
What credit is
How to read a credit report
How to apply for a loan
How to figure a monthly loan payment
How to calculate a car loan value
Expenses that come along with being a car owner
What insurance is and the importance of having it

DuPont Community Credit Union is committed to teaching financial education throughout the communities we serve. In doing so, we have helped thousands of youth over the last 20 years understand important financial concepts. Our Financial Education team uses the Virginia SOLs as a guide to work along with teachers and other educators to provide resources that help establish sound money management skills.
