DCCU's Seasonal and Mentorship Programs

Providing a robust training and development program is a hallmark of a career at DCCU. We believe in supporting our employees at every career level – whether seasoned professionals or just starting out. But what you may not know is that DCCU also works with high school students, providing valuable work experience that can help them decide the career path they may want to pursue. DCCU’s partners with local high schools to connect students with opportunities related to their interests, providing hands-on experience before college. Today we introduce you to Maddie and Sana, who each completed mentorships at DCCU. Maddie, who enjoys writing and social media, spent her time learning alongside the Marketing team. Sana worked with our Community and Business Development team to foster community connections.

Maddie’s first experience with the Marketing department came early in her senior year during a half-day session spent shadowing each member of the team and learning the basics of each position. Later in the year, an opportunity arose enabling her to earn academic credits for interning with a local organization, and DCCU was at the top of her list. “When I came to shadow at DCCU for the first time, I really got to see the different aspects of Marketing, and I knew I really wanted to explore it further if I could,” said Maddie. Throughout her stay, Maddie spent more time with each Marketing employee, and soon found she had a knack for writing. Under the direction of our Marketing team, Maddie grew her skills, eventually writing and publishing a blog article of her own! This experience ultimately helped guide her decision to pursue a degree in Digital Marketing.

My experience in the mentorship program really helped shape my perspective. Thanks to the coaching and support I received during my time at DCCU, I was able to select a major in college that aligns with the skills I learned.

Much like Maddie, Sana was also a senior in high school and connected to DCCU through her high school's mentorship program. Sana spent time with our Community and Business Development team, creating connections with local businesses and organizations, helping her establish skills she'll carry forward in her career. Sana's story doesn't end with the mentorship program, though. After graduation, she returned to DCCU as a seasonal employee—a  position she intends to hold throughout her college career.
