When Marsha started working at DuPont Community Credit Union in the 1980s, she was still a high school student. What began as an after-school job doing light accounting and clerical work quickly grew into something much more – a rewarding career filled with opportunity, growth, and purpose. From her early days of supporting the administrative team to her current position as Senior Core Systems Analyst, each step along the way has contributed to her personal growth and long-term success at DCCU.

In eleventh grade, Marsha attended an interview at DCCU coordinated by one of her business teachers, and was hired on the spot. She spent her first few summers at DCCU working in accounting or as a backup teller but quickly learned that she preferred to work behind the scenes to support our membership. Over the years, she worked in our accounting department as well as loan origination, before moving to Information Security in the early 2000s.

Today, Marsha serves our membership by helping to ensure the systems and processes DCCU relies on run smoothly and efficiently. It’s a role that requires problem-solving, collaboration, and a focus on finding solutions that ultimately benefit DCCU members. Even though she doesn’t work directly with our membership, Marsha finds meaning in knowing that her work supports them every day. “I’ve been able to learn a lot over the years and have used that knowledge to support our members in the same way DCCU has always supported me,” she said.

Success has always come from a willingness to learn and rise to the challenges of each new stage for Marsha. “I like how much I’m challenged in my role,” she shared. “I like to research and figure things out – like how a program should work and how we can tweak it to work best for our membership – and it’s always a great experience when there’s a positive outcome.”

Marsha’s growth has been shaped not only by opportunities, but also by people. She credits her long-term success to her leaders and colleagues who have encouraged and supported her along the way. “Even after all this time, I’m still learning new things every day, and I really like that about my career. Having a good leader behind me has helped me find success here.”

Marsha has witnessed DCCU’s growth alongside her own, growing from one office to 14 locations across the Shenandoah Valley. Her story reflects what can be achieved when personal dedication and organizational support come together to serve a shared purpose. “I’ve grown so much professionally and personally during my time at DCCU, but I’m not finished yet,” she said.
