DCCU Cares Foundation Announces $60,000 in Strategic Community Grants Awarded to Area Non-Profits

Established in 2024, the DCCU Cares Foundation is the charitable arm of DuPont Community Credit Union. The Foundation mission is built around four focus areas critical to our vision of improving the financial health of our community: Financial Wellness, Financial Education, Member, Employee & Community Engagement, and Community Partnerships.

Because financial distress often starts with a lack of financial knowledge and resources, the DCCU Cares Foundation seeks to promote financial empowerment and teach our community smart money habits. We also recognize that those needing a helping hand up are often acutely affected by a lack of access to basic needs such as a quality supply of food, adequate housing, reliable transportation, and steady employment, so we seek to make impact in ways that target these issues, and expand the community giving already taking place.

Strategic Community Grant Program

The Foundation’s Strategic Community Grant Program awarded funds to mission aligned community partners who find innovative, results oriented and cost-effective ways to foster financial health within the DCCU Cares Foundation focus and service areas. A volunteer committee of DCCU employees thoughtfully evaluated applications and selected the grant recipients. Waynesboro Area Refuge Ministry (WARM) Executive Director Alec Gunn stated, “WARM is extremely gracious for this funding for our day care that will assist our mothers in obtaining employment.”

The aim of the DCCU Cares Foundation is to advance our community’s financial health in inspiring ways both presently and for many years to come.
