It doesn’t matter why you’re shopping for a vehicle. It does matter that doing your homework can help you avoid:

  • Buying a bad used car

  • Overpaying for your vehicle and options
  • Paying too much to finance it

We’re here to help you through the entire buying process, from research to the final purchase. Check out our online reference tools and calculators at the right to help you make the best choice for you.

First step? We’d suggest applying for a no-obligation loan pre-approval so you know your price range. No one wants a car payment that stresses them out each month.

Why is it called a “Personal Loan?” A personal loan is usually secured only by your creditworthiness. This is different than a car loan, for example, where the value of the car provides security for the loan. The vehicle loan’s rate is lower because the risk is lower.

However, there may be times when you need to borrow money and don’t have anything to provide as security such as a vehicle or a home. This may include:

  • debt consolidation from higher-rate loans such as a “Payday Lender”
  • unexpected expenses such as a vehicle repair

If you think this loan is what you’re interested in, may we also suggest you consider another unsecured loan — a credit card — to see which one better meets your needs.

Whether you’re a high school senior preparing to go off to college or an adult going back to finish what you started, we have lots of resources to help you pay for it all. We encourage you to fund your higher education using a value based approach:

  • Free Money – have you researched scholarships, foundation grants, and government grants?
  • Cheap Money – have you applied for a Federal Stafford Loan?
  • Gap Money – this is where DCCU comes in. If the first two (Free & Cheap) haven’t covered all your expenses, then DCCU offers private student loans to cover the gap.

DCCU Private Student Lending options are available for 4-year public and private not-for-profit schools. They are not for community colleges as “gap” money usually isn’t needed if the Federal Stafford Loan is applied for.

Be sure to compare. All private student loans aren’t the same. We don’t charge origination fees, guarantee fees, or prepayment fees. You’ll also enjoy:

  • An easy application process
  • Fully deferred payments while in school (optional)
  • A full Line of Credit (LOC) which can be used over multiple years
  • Flexible repayment options including a 0.25% rate reduction while in full repayment when you enroll in automatic payment

It’s time for a Home Equity Line of Credit from DCCU

A Home Equity Line of Credit (HELOC) from DCCU is a smart way to use the equity in your home to get the money you need – for home remodels, education costs, and more. And, it’s a great way to consolidate debt!

A HELOC is different than a Home Equity Loan because it is a revolving line of credit. Home Equity Lines of Credit have many benefits, including:

  • No fees (excluding appraisals) if you have a minimum line of credit of $10,000 and your initial advance is at least $5,000
  • Rates as low as 3.5% APR
  • A streamlined application process for faster approval
  • Accessing your line of credit is easy – simply make a transfer to your checking account within Online Banking or Mobile Banking
  • The principal can be re-borrowed as payments are made

*Annual Percentage Rate is subject to change without notice. All loans are subject to credit approval. Your rate and credit limit will be determined based on individual creditworthiness. Verification of income may be required. Homeowners insurance is required. Rates effective 9/30/2013. Minimum loan amount is $10,000 with $10,000 new money. Maximum total loan-to-value 90% (subject to qualification). Owner-occupied residences only. Rates are for primary residences only. The annual percentage rate can change quarterly. There is no limit on the amount by which the rate can change in any one year period. The maximum APR that can apply during the line of credit is 16.00%. The lifetime floor to your APR will be selected from the following range: between 3.50% and 6.00%. Ask us for the specific rate limitation that will apply to your line of credit. This line of credit has a variable rate feature and the annual percentage rate (corresponding to the periodic rate) and the minimum monthly payment can change as a result. The annual percentage rate includes only interest and not other costs. The annual percentage rate is based on the value of an index. The index is Wall Street Journal Prime Rate. To determine the annual percentage rate that will apply to your line of credit, we add a margin to the value of the index. Ask us for the current index value, margin, and annual percentage rate. After you open a line of credit, rate information will be provided on periodic statements that we send you. Sample terms: Loan amount: $25,000, Rate: 3.50% APR, Term: 180 months, Monthly payment: $180.00, at 80% LTV. The minimum payment amount is $75.00. Your rate may vary from what is listed and will be determined by your individual credit profile and your home’s available equity by an appraisal or tax assessed value.
