Shredding documents is one of the best ways to prevent personal information from falling into the wrong hands. To support the community in this effort, DuPont Community Credit Union (DCCU) partners twice a year with Shred-it® to host Shred Days at select branch locations throughout the Shenandoah Valley.
DCCU Shred Days are an open invitation for the community to bring personal documents to be securely collected and shredded at an offsite facility for free. Participants are asked to bring non-perishable food items that are donated to the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank.
“DCCU is committed to helping the communities we serve,” said Steve Elkins, DCCU President and Chief Executive Officer. “By donating our Shred Day proceeds to the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank, we are able to help those who struggle to feed their family.”
In 2017, DCCU Shred Day events collected enough food and funds to provide 13,360 meals for families in need.
“DCCU’s gift to the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank puts nutritious food on the table, and relieves one of the many burdens facing families in our community,” said Michael McKee, Chief Executive Officer of the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank. “We're deeply grateful for DCCU’s partnership and for being a caring neighbor to those in need.”
DCCU will be hosting Shred Days again in the spring of 2018.
